Mark Shelton’s walk sets a new record

Mark Shelton’s Walk to Hobart for St.Giles raises $24,000

Mark Shelton’s 2024 fundraising Walk to Hobart for St.Giles has raised a record total of $24,260.06.

Over 100 individuals, along with local businesses and community organisations helped make this Mr Shelton’s most successful fundraising effort yet.

“We are incredibly grateful to Mark for Championing St Giles, and undertaking a third fundraising walk from Launceston to Hobart, walking over 200km on each occasion,” St.Giles CEO Honni Pitt said.

“Along with Mark’s efforts, we’re grateful for everyone who donated to the walk, from the Rotary Club of Longford Club’s sizable donation of $5000, through to those who put some spare change in our collection tins – we thank you.”

Mr Shelton thanked his supporters upon completing the walk and made special mention of his grandson Evan.

“Evan is my inspiration to complete fundraising walks for St Giles,” Mr Shelton said.

“He’s now 12 years old and has had assistance from the beautiful staff at St.Giles since he was born.”

“This is my way of giving back to an organisation who have given so much to Evan, giving him extra skills to use in life.”

Since his first walk in 2017, Mr Shelton has helped raise over $65,000 for the Tasmanian disability organisation.

Mark’s 2024 Fundraising walk set off from St.Giles in Launceston on February 12th and finished at St.Giles, Lenah Valley on February 16th, covering a total of 210 kilometres.
