Riverside Woolworths – Community champions

Riverside Woolworths is WW Australian Community Store of the Year.

More than 2000 representatives from Woolworths 1200 stores nationwide attended the award ceremony at Sydney Showgrounds on October 10.

Riverside store manager Wesley Polden has worked tirelessly with Woolworths 31 Tasmanian stores to support St.Giles programs.

Wesley was humble about his team’s win, which came with a very heavy steel and timber trophy.

“All the stores who got to the finals work hard to make a positive difference in their communities,’’ Wes said.

Woolworths are currently in the middle of the annual, Small Change Appeal which will fund resources to help St.Giles provide school readiness programs.

St.Giles General Manager Profile and Engagement Danielle Blewett said Woolworths Tasmania started helping St.Giles in 2011 with a sausage sizzle in front of Parliament House after a fundraising walk.

“Our community partnership with Woolworths is into its second decade. Children across Tasmania who come to St.Giles look set to continue to benefit from the generous effort of the stores’ teams and customers,’’ Ms Blewett said.

St.Giles are Woolworths Tasmanian community charity partner, and donations to the Small Change Appeal can be made at any Tasmanian Woolworths store during the month of October.
