Abled Kitchen presents Pizzas with Purpose

Lovers of Saturday night pizza will have another choice this Saturday, August 20.

Launceston social enterprise, Abled Kitchen, will be offering pizzas made with 100 per cent Tasmanian sourced ingredients.

The Abled Kitchen pizza project is the result of a 12-month pilot of an all abilities, sourdough start-up with St.Giles, FermenTasmania and Sandy’s Sourdough funded by the Tasmanian Community Fund.

The project is also funded from St. Giles Niche Market, social enterprise.

This week has seen the group preparing bases and toppings ahead of the Pizza Night

“It is very cool. We have one established social enterprise – Niche –  supporting entrepreneurs of all abilities at Abled Kitchen,’’ St. Giles Danielle Blewett said.

Participants learned about fermentation and making sourdough breads, bagels and pizza.

It’s time to take the next step, FermenTasmania’s Lauren Brown said.

Ms Brown said ABLED pizza is made with loving and learning hands.

“With integrity of place – all ingredients are locally sourced,’’ Ms Brown said.

At a previous pop-up at Harvest Market in April, pizzas sold out in 40 minutes.
