When: 1pm, Sunday March 20, 202, Balfour Street Launceston

Launceston’s favourite hill-climb challenge, the Balfour Burn, will be back on March 20.

The popular run will return in the Sunday afternoon timeslot that proved popular with patrons at the last event in 2020.

Ready to race: Elite runners Rose Dingemanse and Ben Killalea with committee member Jonty Barnett

A change in the pricing structure for the 2022 event means that runners only need to pay one entry fee to access as many events as they like over the course of the day.

“We realised during the last event that many of the runners, especially children, were wanting to tackle the hill more than once over the course of the day, so we’ve opened up the registrations so that everyone has the opportunity to tackle the climb as many times as they like” St.Giles General Manager Profile and Engagement Danielle Blewett said.

Alongside events for adults, children, families and pets, experienced athletes are keen to tackle the hill once again.

Fresh from running sub 3-hour marathons, local runner Rose Dingemanse is keen to return after finishing runner up in 2020.

“My main focus is the marathon, but I love to get involved with local events like this and I’ve actually only run it the once before”, Mrs Dingemanse said.

Tickets are now on sale via Trybooking.com with all competitors receiving a free race singlet on signing up.
