LAMP Introductory workshop – full day
LAMP introductory workshop is a one day workshop aims to provide participants with knowledge on how and why the LAMP approach was developed and what the approach entails, along with using practical examples about how it can be implemented in therapy, schools, home and other environments.
Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) is an augmentative alternative communication approach that enables individuals who are non-verbal or have limited verbal skills a way of independently and spontaneously expressing themselves with the use of a speech generating device.
The approach was developed by Cindy Halloran, Occupational Therapist; John Halloran, Speech Pathologist; and Mia Emerson, Speech Pathologist, based at the Center for AAC and Autism in Ohio, USA.
The approach consists of 5 key components which develop an individual’s language skills and works on the premise of learning motor patterns to access core words. See: http://www.aacandautism.com/
St Giles is the only provider in Australia certified to conduct the one day LAMP introductory workshop.
Attendance at one day LAMP introductory workshop is required for people wishing to start the process of becoming a LAMP certified therapist.
