$500K accommodation upgrades unveiled

St.Giles has today unveiled upgraded Specialist Disability Accommodation in Summerhill as the organisation continues to grow their disability support offerings.

“Last year we began a program to upgrade our properties to Specialist Disability Accommodation across the state. These upgrades provide tailored living solutions for people living with a disability. Our Summerhill property is the first to be given a contemporary refit.” Acting Chief Executive Honni Pitt said.

“We know that participants within the NDIS are looking for providers that give them choice and control over their lives, and the upgrades you see here allows for maximum independence in their home environment.”

“St.Giles has been active in the community and disability support sector for a long time and these  units allow us to offer participants an exceptional level of support as well as a place that truly feels like home.” Ms Pitt said.

The updates follow on from the introduction of a new model of support that St.Giles rolled out in 2022 where frontline leaders were redeployed from offices into supported independent living homes.

Staff within these homes now have access to a supervisor the majority of the time, and participants are able to quickly have requests actioned rather than waiting for a response from a centralised office.

St.Giles has plans to grow their Specialist Disability Accommodation portfolio and already has parcels of land ready for development.

“St.Giles are proudly Tasmanian and we want nothing but the best for our staff and our participants.”
