Support Workers – North West

St Giles is a state-wide organisation providing individualised supports to Tasmanians living with disability. We are passionate about ensuring that all people have access to high quality supports which are tailored to suit their individual needs.

Because we provide support to a diverse range of individuals, we are committed to being able to match support staff to meet their physical, emotional, social and recreational needs. We want our participants to be at the centre of the supports they receive, including a choice of staff they feel comfortable with.

To be a disability support professional, you need to be able to relate well to all people including those with communication difficulties, think on your feet, be adaptive, have high levels of initiative and professionalism, and provide active support to participants while maintaining a positive environment. We need people who are motivated to enhance the lives of people living with disability, by empowering their choice and control in all aspects of their life.

This support worker role may include assistance with community-based activities, including supporting individuals to enhance and expand their social interaction and inclusion opportunities. The successful applicants will be required to work a variety of shifts which may include weekend work, nights, short and long shifts.

We would like to hear from you if:

  • You have an interest in supporting people living with disability
  • You have respect and empathy for people living with additional needs and their families
  • You are interested in developing a new, highly regarded skills set
  • You are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others

Successful candidates will be required to undertake a full medical, provide a Working with Vulnerable Persons (child- related activity) check, National Police Check and have a manual drivers licence.

Highly desirable: Certificate III or IV in disability work, first aid and medication endorsement.
