Changes to Our Tasmanian Government Funded Children’s Therapy Services

Over many years the Tasmanian Government has funded StGiles to provide therapy services to children with developmental delays and disability in the North and South of Tasmania.

From 1st July 2019 this will change.

We have always strived to ensure that the services we provide are delivered by high quality therapists and achieve the best outcomes for the families and children we work with. This will not change and we will continue to service our community with the same passion that has driven our organisation for over 80 years.

The Tasmanian Government will continue to fund some Children’s Therapy Services at St Giles. This will predominantly be therapy that is unlikely to be available through the Early Childhood Early Intervention Partners or the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

SO WHERE CAN I ACCESS THERAPY SERVICES FOR MY CHILD?

If you have concerns about your child’s development or your child has a disability and is under the age of 7 you can seek services through the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) program.  Please call 1800 572 152 to get in touch with your local ECEI partner.

A step by step process on how to access the ECEI program can be found HERE.

For children who are 7 or older, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities, you may be eligible for funding for therapy through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).  You can call 1800 800 110 to find out more.

You can find out how to access this service on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) website.

If you think that your child will not be eligible for either of these services you can self-refer to St Giles Therapy Services via our website. We will support you to find the right pathway to support.

Please note: St Giles Therapy Services is still a NDIS Provider for children and adults seeking therapy support so if you wish to access therapy services through NDIS we can still help. Just contact us on 1300 278 445 .
