Margaret Mack Centre
The Margaret Mack Centre was developed to house our Seating and Equipment Service and also includes our Fundraising Division.
Seating and Equipment is a specialised service providing adults and children with assessment, prescription, fabrication and modification of customised equipment such as wheelchairs, commodes, seating and vehicle tie-downs.
The Seating and Equipment Clinic offers:
- assessment and fabrication of customised seating requirements;
- prescription of appropriate equipment including highly customised needs;
- modification of mobility and seating equipment such as manual and power wheelchairs, commodes, armchairs, ergonomic chairs;
- pressure mapping for people experiencing skin break down issues;
- maintenance services for mobility and seating equipment;
- equipment repairs;
- installation of wheelchair tie-down and client restraint systems in vehicles;
- supply of wheelchair tyres, tubes and batteries.
The Clinic was established in 1980 and is based at our Amy Road site in Newstead, however an outreach service is provided to other areas of Tasmania. It was relocated to its current site in 2000 but outgrew the facility.
Through the generosity of our supporters we have now completed the new complex to be called the Margaret Mack Centre. The Centre houses our Seating and Equipment Clinic and Fundraising Division.
The Margaret Mack Centre will be officially opened on Wednesday 24th October, 2007 on the day of our AGM.
Thankyou
We could not have developed the Margaret Mack Centre without the substantial financial support of the Victoria League, Tasmanian Community Fund, Motor Accidents Insurance Board and the NAM Findlay Estate and the Bruce Wall Estate through Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees.
Photos of the construction process and the completed building are set out below.

And finally the magnificant finished building.
